Welcome to Mirrorkill's Outer Discordian Church of the Perpetually Confused

(This site is standards compliant, but looks better with the free dyer font installed. It uses a few bits of javascript, but should mostly work without.)
Mirrorkill are a Lancaster UK-based band, of sorts, & a religious disorganisation. (We have no prophets, though, because prophecy is theft).
We do not charge for our music, because nothing you pay money for can ever be subversive. All music on this site may be downloaded & distributed freely, so long as it remains unchanged & attributed to us, & provided that you're not a corporation & you're not making any money out of it. Read the Creative Commons License under which it is published.
We do, however, charge for our time in coming & performing it for you.
We have often described ourselves as "Mutant Industrial Jazz Punk Monkeys", & only been approximately 50% joking, but for various reasons we have now gone entirely acoustic, rendering that definition even more hilariously inadequate than usual. Just listen to it.
You can email us as mirrorkill {at} mirrorkill [dot] co (dot) uk.

|
A new album for 2012 (with new improved drum sound) - Mirrorkill proudly present "Psychomanteum".
It's about Narcissism, G(r)eek Mythology, computers & self-inflicted wounds.
& it's all done with mirrors.

October 5th 2011CE: Facebook "Like" button removed.
It's just too damn creepy.
July 4th 2011CE: "Portrait Of The Artist..." is here.

Celebrating 10 Years of Mirrorkill!
A decade ago, in 2001, Mirrorkill officially released its first album, Shaming Of The True. A couple of years later, in 2003, came Natural Freak. Both albums were recorded at Lancaster Musicians' Co-Op, & engineered & mixed by the mighty Ian Dicken. But although they certainly sounded like professional recordings, they didn't sound like recordings of a particularly professional group. I was still finding my feet, & still using the ancient drum machine Charlemagne, which had served me so well during the life of my previous band Agenda.
Whilst I was happy enough with the results at the time, I find them very difficult to listen to now. They sound naive & awkward. A lot of these songs have survived - we carried on playing them acoustically, at gigs, & they continue to be powerful & popular songs. Hence this project, to re-record the best of this material in the new idiom, & give it a home on the internet. We hope you enjoy it.

May 1st 2011CE: Another One? "Maladaptive Chunking Curve" walks among you.
|
If an Improv/Cut-Up Acoustic Jazz-Metal Odyssey doesn't sound like your cup of tea, then you might want to avoid this...
Seriously, if you're unfamiliar with our stuff, start with something with some real songs!
Work on the upcoming "Portrait Of The Artist Formerly Known As A Young Man" (an acoustic take on the best songs from our first two albums "Shaming Of The True" & "Natural Freak") is ongoing - watch this space.

January 1st 2011CE: New Decade, New Album: "The Man That Things Weren't Meant To Know" Escapes Confinement.
|
Turned around in record time (two releases in 2010, & a brand new one already?), Mirrorkill are proud to present this new collection of songs for a new & filthy decade. Essentially a state of the nation address for England, it is also an HP Lovecraft concept album, predicated on the notion that whomsoever the Powers That Be might be serving, it sure as hell isn't us.
If you've never heard of Lovecraft, don't worry, all will become clear.
It continues our stripped down, Primitivist Acoustic Non-Euclidean Heavy Meta idiom as established on (Batteries Not Invented), but with the addition of sparkly, spangly 12-string shimmer. As ever, this is a free release. As ever, we hope you enjoy it.
Please be warned that Mirrorkill cannot be held responsible for any local reality perturbations, or for the rampaging denizens of any dimensional portals which may manifest as a result of listening to these works.
